Fiona was right!
At the end of yesterday’s blog (Day 357) I wrote that Fiona (my neighbour) had said it was going to be sunny today and it was! It was a glorious day!!
Sadly, I spent most of it on Discovery doing work – 8 hours of work!
Helen took Honey for a walk, so I didn’t even get out for a long walk with Honey in the sunshine.
At 4.15am this morning, Honey woke me up, she was walking up and down the boat with a toy in her mouth wagging her tail intensely. She was clearly trying to wake me up, so I concluded she needed to go out and do a poo.
When living in my flat, I would often ignore her, if she woke me in the night, on the rare occasion she pooed or peed she would do it in the kitchen or bathroom and I would clear it up in the morning. But being on a boat, it’s so much smaller and don’t want to take the risk! I would probably walk in it, in the semi-dark when I got up in the morning 😉
So reluctantly, I got up at 4.20am and took Honey for a walk. It was dark, but the birds were singing, which was nice to hear. We walked for 45 minutes and she only did a pee! I was not too pleased when we were walking back to the boat – I was super grumpy!
This afternoon, Helen said she was woken up at 4.15am by a couple having a massive argument the other side of the canal. That is what must have woken Honey up, not that she need to go to the loo!
I managed to get back to sleep about 6am. Getting up at 8.40am and taking Honey for a quick walk before Qi Gong at 9.10am.
After Qi Gong I concluded Honey needed a longer walk, so we headed up to Bruntsfield Links, passing a few people standing or sitting on their doorsteps enjoying the sunshine.
On Bruntsfield Links, I was surprised that there were no men out and about, all women. Sitting on the benches or playing with young children.
Then back to the boat to do a solid 7 hours of paid work!
Honey jumped up a few times when folk were going through the gate, so I let her out and she enjoyed the sunshine. She wanted to be outside rather than inside.
It was glorious hot, with some people sitting on the towpath with their legs in the canal. I even noticed the heat shimmering off the top of Discovery.
Helen took Honey for a walk at 4.30pm up Blackford Hill, I haven’t been there yet. Helen said that Honey knows the route well and so will show me the way!
She took some great photos (blog cover photo) and below. That’s the great thing about an android phone!
She was back just in time for my Zoom gathering at 7pm!
Lockdown Restrictions Corner
This morning it was all talk about what Nicola was going to announce today in relation to the dates of easing lockdown restrictions. I over heard a couple chatting about it, with ‘inside information’ on what was going to happen – 26th April pubs open with alcohol and food, 7th June nightclubs open with limited capacity, 28th June all restrictions lifted (“Scotland’s Great Day of Freedom”). I had a conversation with a guy who was speculating what was going to be announced, he went on to quote that Italy was back in lockdown (see Day 355) and Germany is not far behind!
I remembered The Marsh Family latest song, saying they are hoping to get a holiday before the next lockdown (Day 356), will we be returning to tighter lockdown restrictions by the autumn?
I haven’t had time to read the full news and it is now nearly midnight, so instead here is a summary in pictures! Thanks to Brian to signposting to these 🙂
The alignment is a bit skewed, but think it works!
No mention of nightclubs – so the folk I over heard didn’t get it all right!
Things We No Longer Use / Do
I am really enjoying this section of the blog…
So far we have looked at – Kilts (Day 300), Irons (Day 301), Suit and Tie (Day 302), Passports (Day 303), Massive Travel Delays (Day 304), Clothes (Day 305) High Heels (Day 311), Taxis (Day 312), A Random Snog in a Nightclub (Day 313), Karaoke Clubs (Day 314), Cash (Day 315), Handshake (Day 316), Head Lice (nit comb and medicated shampoo) (Day 317), Pinworm Infections (Day 318), Offering to take someone’s photo (Day 319), Overnight Suitcase (Day 342), Perfume (Day 343), Shaving Products, for men (Day 344), Birthday Candles (Day 347), nip into a shop without queuing (Day 349) and rucksacks (Day 357).
This morning when I was in Tollcross (5 minutes walk from the boat) I spotted someone in a Suit and Tie! The first person I have seen in a suit and tie for ages – I can’t remember when I last saw someone in a suit and tie, I was so excited. ‘Suit and Tie’ was covered in this section on Day 302, it was a guy waiting to get a coffee. I had to get a photo of him for the blog! When I am confronted with this situation, I always wonder, whether to take a sneaking photo, without asking or do the right think and ask first. The problem with asking, is that 90% of people say no, I can’t take a photo of them 🙁
I positioned myself, as if I was just looking at my phone, but held the camera up to take a snap. Then my conscious kicked in “maybe he would say yes”. I approached him telling how I loved his suit, that I was writing a daily blog and he was the first person in a year I had seen wearing a suit and tie – could I take a photo of him? Just his suit, I didn’t need this face.
He said No 🙁
The problem is, once you’ve asked, you can’t take a sneaky photo. So I am having to just tell you about it.
Readers Corner
Two posts today.
Anna
Anna sent me a message today about yesterday’s ‘Things We No Longer Use / Do’ (Day 357), saying:
“We used a rucksac on Friday”.
Thanks for that Anna – yes, I use my rucksack quite a lot at the moment!
Pat
Pat posted a comment on yesterday’s blog (Day 357) saying:
“I Get My Vaccination Tomorrow And I Admit To Being. A Bit Apprehensive But Hey Ho Needs Must.Stay Safe And Stay Well All…“
Good Luck with that Pat!
I’m a bit nervous about getting my vaccination too, although I haven’t had my letter yet.
Let us know how it goes 🙂
As I come to the end of this blog, it’s super late, nearly 12.30am and I’m really tired!
It’s a shame that I couldn’t enjoy the sunshine, but I am sure this is only the start of it. On days like this at the start of Spring, we start to wonder whether this is how our summer is going to be like or whether it’s going to be cold and wet.
I see in the lockdown restrictions easing in Scotland that from 26th April, wedding receptions can take place for up to 50 people, but with no alcohol. How many people are going to organise their wedding reception with no alcohol ??!!!
Tomorrow Fiona said it’s going to be overcast, I now trust Fiona’s weather forecast as she is always spot on!
Hope you’ve had some fun in the sunshine 🙂
