Day 263 – Reflections on Lockdown

posted in: Stories | 1

It feels like my life involves travelling between the boat and the flat at the moment.  In the evening it only takes 20 minutes, but during the day, it can take up to 45 minutes.  Two buses leave from the same bus stop (No. 1 and No. 35), taking different routes but end up at the same bus stop.  Strangely enough, when leaving Easter Road towards the boat, they leave within 2-3 minutes of each other.  So I play the game of which bus to get and which will get to the boat bus stop first!!

In the daytime the No. 35 seems faster, but in the evening, the No. 1 bus is up to 10 minutes faster than the No. 35.

But the travelling is starting to get to me, I will be pleased once I just live in one place!!

Honey seems to take the bus in her stride and often gets some pats from other passengers.

For most of today, I spent the day on the boat doing some work, just heading over to the flat for some painting near the end of the day.  Then back to the boat late evening.

Thank goodness tomorrow is Saturday, I can have a long lie !!

This morning the Coffee Boat gave me a free coffee for the help I gave on Monday (Day 259) when it was broken in 🙂

Face-Mask Corner

Today we have Shaun 🙂

Shaun writes:

“Not so much as face mask as a buff from outdoors shop in Aviemore with a mask underneath. Lovely glow comes from the all electric bus taking me safely and socially distanced within same area. Stay safe people!”

Thanks Shaun!  Face-mask or face-covering, anything can go in here!!

Readers Corner

Today just one post from our regular Readers Corner contributor…

Pat

Pat left a comment on yesterdays blog (Day 261) saying:

“Lovely Song Jim.. Thanks… Stay Safe and Stay Well Mate…☘️🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿☘️🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿“.

Thanks Pat, I will let Andrew Huggan know 🙂

Christmas Music Corner

Today we have the infamous Blog musician Majk Stokes’ NEW Christmas Single!!

I’ve already listened to it three times and I think it is fantastic!

So today we have Socks

Majk was saying he thinks the B-Side song (The Facemask Song) is ingenious.  I haven’t listened to it yet.

As I come to the end of today’s blog, I am shattered!  I didn’t realise just how exhausting painting and decorating can be.  I am starting to realise I need a holiday, so am thinking of taking a Christmas Break from the QiGong.  I have been doing sessions every weekday since the 2nd April and only taken 7 days off in total.  That’s a total of 175 sessions since 2nd April.  I love how it gives me a routine and gets me out of bed, but I am needing a holiday!

I think I have cracked the wood burner, although the last two days have been warm outside, so it is a lot easier.  I light the fire in the daytime and let the boat heat up and then in the evening, just burn wood, with no coal.  Although, this evening the logs were just not lighting, I think they were damp.  But by just burning wood at night, the boat doesn’t get so hot, but by the morning it is still warm enough not to feel frozen!

I am really enjoying my daily wood burner research and already started using it to think about how much wood I need to put on it.

Today it was rained and been damp.  The temperature is super mild – 6/7 degrees centigrade, through the night tonight the lowest temperature is 7 degrees!

Hope you’ve all had a Fantastic Friday!!

Enjoy

Jim xx
