Today has been one of those days when I have bumped into lots of different people and spent time with them. I can go for days or even weeks, not seeing anyone, then have a day (like today) when I bump into lots of people! Why does that happen – something to do with The Energy?!
This afternoon I arranged to meet up with my friend Majk (aka the musician Majk Stokes – Day 130 and Day 26), he’s got me a wee bit of work helping him with his website and promoting his music.
On the way there, I was back on the Royal Mile and took some more photos of tables outside cafes, like I did yesterday (Day 198). Today I was spotting the amount of places that just had 1 or 2 chairs/tables, which didn’t look like it fitted in, but I guess was giving customers the opportunity to sit outside.
I also spotted one café, with a sign saying ‘50% off food’, which I guess is a sign of the times to try and get people in the door to buy something!!
I took some more Covid Signage photos whilst waiting for Majk.
Majk and I sat outside for our meeting and one of Majk’s friends walked by and chatted to us for a while, Adam. He said he was looking for a hat and was off to get a pint before the pubs closed tomorrow. I explained that you could still get pints from pubs as takeaway. He didn’t think that was the case, but I looked up on yesterdays blog (Day 198) and I am correct – you will be able to get takeaway pints from tomorrow.
I thought I recognised him, but before I could ask him, he was away down the street. I asked Majk if he was a well known musician and Majk explained he was in the folk world, he was Adam Holmes.
I originally met Adam at a ceilidh about 10 years ago and spent the evening chatting to him. But since then have seen his music rise performing at Heb Celt, Celtic Connections, Scottish Trad Music Awards and various other festivals.
After bidding Majk farewell, we headed in opposite directions, but then I saw Adam Holmes, so stopped to say hello. We chatted for a while about lockdown, life and living, before heading along to Princess Street. Bizarrely bumping into Majk again, before bidding Adam farewell as he headed towards H&M to see if he could find a hat.
I then jumped on a Just Eat Bicycle and headed towards home. Dropping off the bike and walking towards home, I bumped into Lesley who I used to work with many years ago in the mental health field. It turns out she lives quite close to me! We chatted for a quite a while, before saying farewell and heading home.
I then saw some hats for sale, so text Adam to let him know, realising I wasn’t sure what type of hat he was looking for!
I then headed out with Honey the Dog and bumped into some folk outside the pub on the corner of my street, so went in there and chatted to lots of the locals that know Honey and me!
Wow, a super busy afternoon of accidental meetings and chatting to folk, I felt exhausted !
I am super excited to let you all know, that Nicola Sturgeon must have read my blog and has changed one of the new Central Belt lockdown rules 🙂
I wrote yesterday (Day 198) about how the Renroc Cafe had posted on Facebook yesterday about the confusion of the new restrictions. Although a cafe, they also sell alcohol. However, the alcohol sales is only 5% of their turnover, but with the new restrictions announced yesterday, as they had an alcohol license, they would have to shut down.
Nicola has now done a U-Turn on this decision. If cafes with a license, don’t sell alcohol they can open like any other café, from 6am to 6pm. Although they can sell alcohol as takeaway. Check out Nicola’s words today:
“Cafes will be able to open, whether they are licensed or unlicensed as long as they don’t serve alcohol”.
Result – so glad that my blog continues to influence the Scottish Government decisions 😉
Face-Mask Corner
Today we have James from The Melting Pot. You will remember James also featured in Face-Mask Corner on Day 155.
James got his face-mask from The Cats Miaow, an independent shop in Edinburgh on Elm Row. The face-mask is fair-trade.
James says he likes this face-mask as its soft, comfortable to wear, there are lots of nice colours to choose from and it’s easier to hear through it (for others hearing you while speaking!).
His face-mask (in the photo) is actually Dark Green, but it’s not so clear as the photo is taken through a plastic shield!
Thanks James, I love the sound of these. I may go and get one for myself 🙂

As I come to the end of today’s blog, I am feeling energised.
I love the kind of day I had today with lots of coincidental meetings, always makes me wonder if there is a new or full moon, neither today! But something bigger on a universal level was happening today 🙂
The weather has been lovely this afternoon. Mainly clear skies and the sun shining, although quite cold. The air is getting colder. A great sunset this evening 🙂
Hope you are having a good week.
Enjoy Life !
