Day 171 – Reflections on Lock-Down

posted in: Stories | 0

This morning after Chi Gong I met up with Colin, who shared his playlist in yesterday’s blog (Day 170).  I had my FIRST coffee in 32 days, as I had been on my 30 day detox.  I must admit that I didn’t notice anything different in my mood although have been feeling more tired this evening.

I think I will start drinking coffee like I do with alcohol.  Drinking when I am in the mood to have a coffee, rather than it becoming a habit to drink it everyday.  Well, that is what I plan, will see how that goes 🙂

So we met Colin in the Out of the Blue Drill Hall, which is a kind of community art space with a wee cafe.  It opened again on 2nd September after lockdown.  I just looked it up on Wikipedia ( to add the link and now know lots more about it!

It was built in 1901 as a drill hall for the 5th Volunteer Battalion Royal Scots (Lothian Regiment), but was made into Out of the Blue in 2003.

The layout of the cafe was great.  Tables socially distanced, had to give contact details for track and trace, all felt very safe.

I then walked down Leith Walk with Colin and cycled back up it on Lexi 10887.

This afternoon I did a bit of work, then met up with my friend Kenny who was through in Edinburgh for the day.

Was great to see him and catch-up.  He didn’t want to be in the blog, but he did some thermal photos of Honey.  The second one has the temperatures on them.

Face-Mask Corner

Today we have Rob, who works at The Abbotsford Bar, on Rose Street.  He served as drinks last Thursday (Day 164).

Rob’s mum made him his face-mask, in fact she made a bunch of them for him 🙂

Thanks Rob for sharing!  I love the bright colours 🙂

Readers Corner

Nothing in here today 🙁

It Made Me Smile

Music Corner

Don’t think I have anything to share in here today 🙁

If you have any Spotify playlists, favourite tunes that you could share via YouTube or any thing else you want to share in Music Corner, please send over to me!

I must admit over the last couple of weeks, whilst visiting my old tape compilations and making other playlists connected to my younger years, I am finding I am connecting to a younger part of me!  The part of me which was/is more spontaneous, takes risks in life and just goes for it!  That part has been missing in my life for many years.  So I am so grateful to have reconnected to that part within me via Spotify.

Here is the album I have been listening to this evening:

Sunshine on Leith (The Motion Picture Soundtrack)

As I come to the end of today’s blog, I don’t feel I have written much about lockdown.  I had forgotten I had that coffee this morning, after an initial boost of energy, I have been feeling pretty tired for the rest of the day.  I wonder whether the caffeine gave me a boost and then a crash afterwards?

Nicola Sturgeon announced today that Scotland will be following England and on Monday, people will only be able to meet in groups of up to 6 both inside or outside, made up of two households.  It will be interesting to see if this is followed.

The threat of a second wave has always been there in the winter, is this the first signs of a second lockdown?

We will find out!

Hope you’ve had a good day.

Thanks for your continuous reading.
