Day 154 – Reflections on Lock-Down

posted in: Stories | 0

My energy has been really sluggish today 🙁

Think I am still recovering from the weekend – my annoyance and frustration on Saturday (Day 152) and my long day yesterday (Day 153).

Pre-lockdown when I used to work full-time as a magician, Monday and Tuesday’s were my days off work recovering from a weekend of working.  In hindsight, this is what I should have done today, instead I tried to motivate myself to have a regular day.

Now my mood is pretty flat and my shoulders are feeling tense.  Pre-lockdown I would book a massage when feeling like this.

I definitely need to go for a run tomorrow morning.

This afternoon, I headed into town to go to The Melting Pot.  Like last week, I got the bus in, with the intention to cycle home.  However, it was a 15 minute wait for the next bus into town (No. 1 bus), so I got the other bus to the Royal Mile (No. 35 bus).

It was really busy (well for lockdown), until I realised that it is the ‘Eat Out to Get Out‘ government scheme today, with 50% of food and drink bill.

I then got a bike and cycled to The Melting Pot, dropping the bike off at St. Andrews Square.

I got Josie 10783.

After The Melting Pot, I went to Waverley Bridge to get another bicycle as there were none at St. Andrews Square.  I stumbled across a couple of guys playing music (Barney Goodall and Ali Horn), so I stood and enjoyed this for a while and took a wee video.

Their music was great, with a mellow feel to it 🙂

Here are their social media links (and below the photos).

I cycled home on Glen 10356.  Gears were grinding, I would not recommend.

I finally managed to upload the video from yesterday.  It took a long time, mainly as it is nearly 1Gb in size!!

At parts the music is louder than my voice, but I was putting it together yesterday when I was super tired, so was not in the mood to edit it.  But it’s still enjoyable 🙂

Music by the Orkney band The Chair.  The first tune is ‘Furmiston Ruby’, the second is ‘Humorous’.

Face-Mask Corner

Today we have Hannah!

When I asked her where did she get her face-mask from, she said:

“I actually got it in Vietnam two years ago for motorcycling in polluted cites”.

Nice!  I bet you didn’t think you would be wearing it in the UK two years later 😉

Readers Corner

One sharing today from Pat.

Pat

Pat posted a Facebook comment on yesterday’s blog (Day 153), he said:

“Great Read….With That Beard You Look Like A Guru.😉😉😉 Thinking Of Starting Your Own Cult/Religion…😉😉😉 Stay Safe and Stay Well Mate….☘️🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿☘️🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿”.

Thanks Pat – I am a Guru!!  I have tried it, but those who are part of it are very firm in saying “It’s NOT a Cult” !! 😉

It Made Me Smile

Nothing in here today 🙁

Music Corner

When I saw Hannah and Cleo on Friday (Day 151), Cleo said Hannah has many Spotify playlists!

Hannah shared this playlist called AlfaMito.  Hannah says:

“AlfaMito is a collection of mostly rock/pop from the 70s/80s. I like to think of it as the ultimate driving playlist but it’s good for many things”.

Thanks Hannah!  I am listening to it now, I love it 🙂

As I come to the end of this blog, I am looking forward to my bed.  I am in the mood, where I want to go to sleep and hopefully tomorrow my energy and mood will be better.

I really enjoyed teaching and performing some magic yesterday and realised how much I miss that lifestyle.  Its a very magical feeling to bringing excitement and amazement to people’s lives by showing them close-up magic.  I get a massive buzz from it, as it is a skill I have spent years learning.  I am going to start thinking about how I can adapt my magic to fit with Covid Restrictions, without it compromising too much of the “message” my magic brings to people’s lives.  I love how my magic work takes me to so many great places across the country, travelling to new areas I would never go otherwise.  Often some amazing buildings, castles and venues.

I think that is part of why my mood is flat today, a come-down from that yesterday.  The realisation that I won’t be doing that for some months to come, unless I make changes to my act.

Today, it has been relatively warm, not shorts and t-shirt warm, sunny at times, no rain.  A great sunset this evening.  It seems to be getting darker and darker quicker and quicker at the moment 🙁

Anyway, hope you’ve had a good start to you week.

Thanks for your continuous reading.
