Day 12 – Reflections on Lock-Down

posted in: Stories | 0

A day of no energy and little inspiration to write this blog.  I was tempted not to write it, but I have made a commitment to myself, so I have grudgingly, fired up my computer.  As I listen to Sam Lupton’s Saturday night radio show on OTC (Off the Chart Radio) in an attempt to give me some motivation.

Last day I felt like this was on Tuesday (Day 8).

Saturday’s are usually my most active day of the week – catching up with friends and performing at magic gigs!

But instead, today, I have spent most the day watching films on Disney Channel.  Fiona, told me you can get free 7 day trial, so I signed up this morning.

I have also spent a lot of the day eating food!  It’s only until I sat down to write this blog, that I realised that my constant eating food, has to been fill that empty space in me.  My friend, Helen pointed out on Wednesday (Day 9), we often try and fill that empty space with something or someone.  As I am in lock-down and lacking energy, the simplest thing to fill it, has been eating.

Honey the Dog was not going to let me watch films all day, so I eventually dragged myself up at 5pm and we went for a walk on Arthur’s Seat.  I decided to listen to an Audible book, scrolling through my library, I turned to one on ‘Cosmic Ordering‘!  Cosmic Ordering is the art of manifesting (or asking the Universe) for anything you want.  Following the Laws of Attraction, once mastered one can create your entire future.

I originally read a book on Cosmic Ordering about 15 years ago.  But I was performing at a wedding about 18 months ago, which included staying for the wedding speeches.  The Bride and Matron of Honour both gave long speeches about how their whole lives had been transformed by Cosmic Ordering.  The Bride told an extensive story, on how she had manifested her husband and the wedding!  So I bought the audible book, to try it again.

As I walked, the book suggested to start small – so I visualised seeing someone on Arthur’s Seat that I knew.  Very unlikely, as I have walked or run there everyday since lock-down and not seen anyone I knew.  But amazingly enough, I saw my friend Dr. John, who was on a run to the top of Arthur’s Seat!  Wow – it worked!

When I got home, I made some more food and returned to the Disney Channel!

With no energy or motivation to write anything more, I thought (like on Tuesday), I will tell you a story.

So get yourself comfortable and I will tell you story….

Once upon a time, there lived a village of creatures along the bottom of a great crystal river.  The current of the river swept silently over them all – young and old, rich and poor, good and evil, the current going its own way, knowing only its own crystal self.

Each creature in it’s own manner clung tightly to the twigs and rocks of the river bottom, for clinging was their way of life, and resisting the current what each had learned from birth.

But one creature said at last, “I am tired of clinging.  Though I cannot see it with my eyes, I trust that the current knows where it is going.  I shall let go, and let it take me where it will.  Clinging, I shall die of boredom.”.

The other creatures laughed and said, “Fool !  Let go, and that current you worship will throw you tumbled and smashed across the rocks, and you will die quicker than boredom!”.

But the one heeded them not, and taking a breath did let go, and at once was tumbled and smashed by the current across the rocks.  Yet in time, as the creature refused to cling again, the current lifted him free from the bottom, and he was bruised and hurt no more.

And the creatures downstream, to whom he was a stranger, cried, “See a miracle!  A creature like ourselves, yet he flies!  See the Messiah, come to save us all!”.

And the one carried in the current said, “I am no more Messiah than you, the river delights to lift us free, if only we dare let go.  Our true work is this voyage, this adventure.”.

But they cried the more “Saviour!”, all the while clinging to the rocks…and when they looked again he was gone and they were left alone making legends of a Saviour.

Good Night.
